Fon du Lac, Wisc. district partners to stop bullying

It takes a community to prevent bullying of children.

The fourth annual Bullying Prevention Awareness Week, Oct 4 to 10, encourages communities nationwide to work together to increase awareness of the prevalence and impact of bullying on all children.

A recent survey of students in the Fond du Lac School District on violence-related behaviors found that 7 percent of eighth, 10th and 11th grade students report they did not go to school in the past 30 days because they felt unsafe at school or on the way to or from school.

According to the school district, bullying includes aggressive or hostile intentional behavior which is repeated over time. It can take the form of physical, verbal or emotional behaviors or threats, social exclusion or isolation, and cyber bullying, among other forms. Full story.
