Sheriff: Yazoo County High girl was picked on at school

YAZOO CITY, Miss. — A 14-year-old who is accused of threatening students on a Yazoo County school bus told the sheriff’s department that she did so because she was being picked on.

The incident occurred Tuesday morning and was recorded by a surveillance camera mounted in the school bus. The video showed the girl taking the gun from a backpack, loading it and then walking up and down the aisle of the bus, sometimes pointing the gun at students.

G’dad: Yazoo County High g’daughter reacted to bullying

PICKENS, Miss. — The grandfather of a 14-year-old girl arrested and accused of waving a gun on a crowded Yazoo County, Miss., school bus said Thursday she is not getting a fair deal in news coverage of the event.

“It ain’t been told right,” said Mac Gypson, who lives across the highway from his granddaughter just across the Yazoo County line. “They want to look for the worst part and don’t want to know anything else.”
