MIDDLEBURY, Indiana — The ride to and from school isn’t the only danger for students; bullying can also be a problem. A local school wants to take the fight against bullying from the classroom to the community.
It’s a first for any school in the Middlebury school system. A recent survey showed Heritage Intermediate School officials that there was a need for a bullying prevention program.
“From the results we definitely saw that kids needed to learn more about bullying and learn more about how to prevent bullying, or stick up for their friends, or learn how to tell an adult when they see it,” explained school counselor Kori Cripe.
“I don’t think it’s a good thing because then kids won’t want to come back to school,” said fourth-grader Emma Beebe. “It makes them feel uncomfortable.” Full story.
