Holly Grogan, a pupil at St Edward’s School, Charlton Kings, Glos, died after she fell onto a dual-carriageway on Wednesday night and was hit by passing traffic.

Police are investigating her death but said there were no suspicious circumstances. Tributes left on social networking websites suggested she may have been going through a difficult time and may have been bullied or vivtimsed.

One read: “At least your (sic) safe now. All those people who hurt you babe will get whats coming to them. Rest in peace beautiful.”

Another wrote: “You didn’t deserve what you went through. I know you were loved because I have seen all the people crying for you and I know you will never be forgotten. You’re in a better place now, rest in peace.”

Andrew Nash, headmaster of the £11,500 a year independent Roman Catholic school, said staff and pupils were informed at a special assembly.

“Pupils in her year group have been very distressed and have been comforted by staff,” he said. “We are still in shock and our love and prayers are with the family.”

Holly was found on the A40 under Pirton Lane Bridge, in Churchdown, Glos., at about 11pm on Wednesday night. Full story.
