JACKSON, MISS (WLBT) — Jackson attorney John Reeves has been hired to represent the 14-year old Yazoo County girl who pulled a gun on a bus load of students.

Reeves told us he got the family to agree on the front end, that what the 14-year-old did cannot be justified and he would be allowed to say that. Reeves said the girl had transferred from Holmes County this year. She had been an honor student in Holmes County, but was not accepted in Yazoo County. Reeves spoke with the mother for about an hour, but has not talked with the child.

The mother told Reeves the child was being bullied by several students prior to the gun incident. Reeves said the gun belonged to the mother and was kept hidden away in a closet and the ammunition was in a separate place. The girl found the gun without the mother’s knowledge. Reeves said one of the boys bullying her was saying he had had sex with her and he had not.

“My understanding from the family was that one boy was going around saying he had had sex with her, but he had not. That was a lie and that hurt her feelings terribly,” Reeves said. Full story.
