NEVADA, Iowa — Nevada school administrators are investigating the actions of three boys’ basketball players sent home from a team camp at Simpson College in Indianola last month, the district’s superintendent confirmed Wednesday.
The boys, whose names were not released, were sent home from the camp after Nevada basketball coach Joel Fey “determined they did not need to be there because of their actions,” said James Walker, Nevada superintendent.
The trio is accused of hazing another student during the camp, which ran July 18-21.
Walker declined to make the details of the incident public, citing student privacy issues.
“We are investigating this thoroughly and we will decide what sanctions should be taken,” he said. “The parents of all parties, including the victim, are going to be involved throughout the process.” Full story.
