Texas Mom sues schools alleging bullying

The Austin Statesman
A woman has sued the Georgetown school district, accusing it of ignoring sexual harassment of her son over a six-year period.

Kime Mitchell said her son was choked, spit on and sexually assaulted by other students from fourth through ninth grades, according to a federal lawsuit filed in the Western District of Texas.

Superintendent Abbe Boring said the school district has not seen the lawsuit and officials cannot comment on it.

“We feel it is important that the community know that the Georgetown Independent School District takes all allegations of harassment and bullying very seriously,” Boring said in a statement. “As part of our commitment to ensure safe schools and fair treatment of all students, Georgetown ISD has anti-bullying and anti-harassment programs in place at every Georgetown Independent School District campus.” Full story.
