PORT CLINTON, Ohio — A local filmmaker is holding auditions this weekend in Port Clinton. Thomas Brown will audition actors and actresses from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Playmakers Civic Theatre, 604 W. Sixth St. He is the founder of the Broken Toy Project and a partner in Closer Look Films.

“We’ve got about a third of the cast. We’re looking for basically as many people as we can get,” Brown said.

Adults and children are needed, he said. “We need boys and girls, but we definitely need boys,” he said. Many of the younger roles are for children in grades six through eight.

Like most of his work, the film will deal with the issue of bullying.

“It’s called ‘Yesterday When I Was Twelve,'” the filmmaker said. The movie, which will be nearly feature-length, will be shown in two parts.

Brown said it centers around one main character who sees bullying from different perspectives during a four-month period. Full story.
