New bullying policy for Baltimore Co. schools

Baltimore County Public Schools likely will have a revised policy against harassment in place by the time school begins in the fall after an anti-bullying policy was presented to the Board of Education at a May 19 work session.

County officials, however, say the policy is essentially just a tweak in what they have been doing for years.

“The bullying is not a new issue, a new policy for us is,” said board member Frances Harris.

In July 2008, the Maryland General Assembly directed the state Board of Education to develop a model policy against bullying. The state board did so in February, and now school boards across the state must follow suit. <a title="New policy for Baltimore Co. schools. Full story.
