Abilene, Texas — Jennifer was shocked to see her former friend posted a picture on Facebook with Jennifer’s face Photoshopped into an embarrassing animal scene.

When Tracy realizes Donna has a crush on her boyfriend, Tracy decides to intimidate the competition by texting Donna harassing messages at all hours of the day and night.

Alex figures out Randy’s e-mail account password and sends out messages that seem to be from Randy with false confessions to school mischief.

These are all typical cases of “cyber bullying.”

The Abilene Independent School Board changed the district policy Monday requiring the district to develop ways to teach students about these issues. Neither state nor federal education officials have specific curriculum for teaching these concepts, but AISD is already ahead of the law, said Mark Gabehart, district technology chief. Full story.
